Privacy and Your Health Record

May 16, 2019

Your ‘My Health Record’ is a summary of your health information that can be accessed online by your doctor and other healthcare providers.

Did you know that you can decide which healthcare providers can access your My Health Record, as well as what each healthcare provider can view?

Make sure you tell your healthcare provider if you don’t want something added to your My Health Record.

To take control of your health information, log in to your My Health Record to change the settings of your account, including:

  • Updating the default privacy settings of your My Health Record;
  • Setting up notifications so you know each time your My Health Record has been accessed;
  • Securing your My Health Record with a strong password; and
  • Checking your My Health Record access history regularly for any unauthorised access.

For more information, contact our Privacy team or head to OAIC – My Health Record.
